The beautiful Palace was constructed in 1929. The palace served as the winter residence of the second King Jigme Wangchuk and Queen Ashi Phuntsho Choden. It is a three-storey building in the Bhutanese palatial style. At present, it serves as the National Commission for Cultural Affairs and also stores books for the National Library of Bhutan. The 23km drive from Trongsa to Kuenga Rabten takes about an hour.
