The palace is the birthplace of the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk in 1928 where he grew up. It is a two-storied architecture with a beautiful green courtyard. It is located above the highway in town which currently serves as the winter residence of the present King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk.
